It was very chill, -3 Celsius for the start of the Ryken Fishing Derby, so I delayed 45 minutes getting to the pond. Wrong decision! The fish were hungry after the cool night and in the hour between 8:00AM opeing and 9:00AM when your intrepid reporter arrived a lot of fish got landed. In fact there were more families leaving with their quota of 3 fish per child then arriving at 9:00. No use standing in the cold when there is no more fish to land legally.

But the pond certainly provide great fish bounty:
Come down on Sunday for more fish and fun at Ryken Pond and Fishing Derby. The heaviest take so far – a 5lb trout.
